What We Stand For

As many young girls and women having grown up in the age of technology, I found myself struggling with self-confidence.

“If I wear this, they will think that .”, “If I am interested in , I will be thought of as ”, “I’ll never be as as him/her”.

The constant self-destructive influence of societal expectations on women (especially young women) is something that had a hold on me for the majority of my young life.

After struggling with severe anxiety brought on by the intense weight of outside expectations throughout my college career, I realized that I needed to start living for myself; not others. Self expression through art, specifically jewelry, helped me to build confidence in not only my abilities but myself as a person.

Slowly, the weight of the expectations of others began to disappear. It didn’t matter what I wore, or how I looked, or expressed myself.
